Josh Meyer

Josh Meyer is a self-taught American perfumer and the founder of the independent fragrance house Imaginary Authors, based in Portland, Oregon. Eschewing traditional formal training in Grasse, Meyer developed his craft through experimentation and a deep interest in storytelling, often conceptualizing scents alongside fictional literary narratives.

His signature style is characterized by unconventional, evocative compositions that frequently incorporate synthetic accords to mimic atmospheric elements like mountain air, ink, or old paper. Among his most well-known creations for Imaginary Authors are the atmospheric Cape Heartache, the gourmand-inspired A Whiff of Waffle Cone, and the popular woody scent Every Storm a Serenade.
