Jacques Courtin-Clarins was not a professional perfumer, but rather the visionary entrepreneur who founded the French beauty company Clarins in 1954. Originally a medical student, he transitioned into the cosmetics industry by opening an institute in Paris, where he pioneered the use of 100% pure plant extracts for skincare and body treatments. Under his leadership, the brand expanded from specialized spa products into the global luxury beauty market.

While Courtin-Clarins oversaw the creative direction and philosophy of the company, the fragrances released by Clarins—such as Eau Dynamisante—were developed by professional noses and in-house laboratory teams rather than by Courtin-Clarins himself.
