Jacques Polge
Jacques Polge is a legendary French perfumer who served as the head perfumer (or "nose") for Chanel for several decades, beginning in the 1970s. He succeeded Henri Alméras and became one of the most influential perfumers in the luxury fragrance industry, overseeing the creation and reformulation of many of Chanel's iconic scents.
Polge is known for his refined, classical approach to perfumery and his deep understanding of raw materials and composition. Among his most celebrated creations are fragrances that have become cornerstones of the Chanel collection, though he also worked on flankers and new releases for the house. His style emphasizes elegance and timelessness, with a particular mastery of floral and woody compositions. Polge retired from his position at Chanel but remains an influential figure in fragrance history.
