Wirtz

Wirtz refers to the Belgian landscape architect and designer Jacques Wirtz, who, while primarily renowned for his mastery of garden design and topiary, collaborated with the niche perfume house Dries Van Noten to create the brand's debut fragrance. His influence on the scent was deeply rooted in his horticultural expertise, aiming to translate the sensory experience of his signature garden environments into an olfactory composition.

The resulting fragrance, simply titled Dries Van Noten par Frédéric Malle, was composed by perfumer Bruno Jovanovic under the creative direction of Wirtz’s aesthetic vision. The scent is celebrated for its grounding, woody, and spicy profile, featuring prominent notes of sandalwood, vanilla, and saffron, which reflect the balanced, naturalistic, and timeless elegance characteristic of Wirtz's landscape architecture.
